Looking at Biodanza through the lens of the vagus nerve and the functioning of our autonomic nervous system, we get an understanding of the health effects and the sense of well-being when participating Biodanza regularly.  The mechanisms of the autonomic nervous system shed light on why Biodansers experience less stress, more resilience, have a more positive outlook on life, and even experience less pain in certain illnesses. These effects of regular Biodanza classes continue in the participant’s everyday life, far beyond the class.

This session contains two parts

Part 1 (1st hour): POLYVAGAL THEORY

  • What is Polyvagal Theory?
  • How does the autonomic nervous system work: a polyvagal perspective.
  • What’s the role of social contact in our autonomic nervous system?
  • How do we access this autonomic and unconscious organizing system?
  • What does this mean for our health and our psychological physiological and emotional well-being?

Part 2 (2nd hour) : BIODANZA AND POLYVAGAL THEORY

  • How is the autonomic nervous system and it’s different adaptive states influenced during vivencia?
  • What are the mechanisms underlying the strengthening and rewiring of the autonomic nervous system during Biodanza class? (Increasing vagal tone and the vagal brake)
  • Why can we refer to Biodanza as neural fitness?
  • Where do the lasting benefits of Biodanza come from?
